“Monica Leone is an antistar pianist, everything tends to serve the music and the ability to concentrate emerges in an extraordinary intensity of effect”. With those words, Paolo Totaro, a critic of “Fiamma” from Sidney, has greeted the debut of Monica Leone in Australia, saying: “the highest compliment one can give to a musician playing the Beethoven op. 101 is maintaining an absolute integrity and unity of the piece. For a pianist so young playing so is a sign of the protection of the gods and of a great future".

Born in Campobasso, Monica Leone began studying piano under the guidance of her mother, Carmen Mazzarino, and then continued with Massimo Bertucci at the Conservatory “San Pietro a Majella” in Naples. She thus inherited the principles of the school of Vincenzo Vitale, the most important Italian teacher of the second half of the Twentieth century.
She then studied with Michele Campanella at the Ravello School of Piano Academy and the Accademia Chigiana of Siena, where she was awarded the Diploma of Honour. She has performed in prestigious halls, such as the Teatro Massimo of Palermo, the Maffeiana Hall of Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, the Hall of the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, for institutions such as the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Amici della Musica of Florence, the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Settimana Musicale Senese, the Sagra Umbra, the Associazione Scarlatti of Naples, "Micat in Vertice" in Siena (in that occasion her Goldberg Variations "were one and a half hour of sound that enhances the artistic qualities of the young concert pianist, confirming her as a real talented artist").
Besides Italy, Monica Leone has played in France, Spain, Romania, Hungary, Ukraine, Turkey, United States, China, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina. She participated in the recording of the Petite Messe Solennelle for the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. As a soloist she is present in the music seasons of the Chamber Orchestra of Padua and Veneto, the Orchestra della Toscana, the Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese.
Between February and March 2006, she was in tour in Australia and New Zealand, performing recitals and as soloist inaugurating the season of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. In 2008 she made her debut in the season of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and the Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti in Rome. In 2010 she made a tour in Brazil as a soloist in a program dedicated to Schumann and has participated in the “Liszt Marathons” of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in January 2011.
Her orchestra repertoire, besides all Bach concertos, includes works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Saint-Saëns (she has recorded Concerto op.22 for RAI) and Poulenc. She dedicates herself enthusiastically to chamber music in various formations and plays regularly in duo with Michele Campanella. Among her recordings, there are the Goldberg Variations, the eight French Suites, the English Suites and the Inventions and Symphonies of J.S. Bach.

She is piano teacher at Centro Studi pianistici Vincenzo Vitale, founded by Accademia Europea di Musica e Arti dello Spettacolo (AEMAS) and Università Suor Orsola Benincasa of Naples.

Leonardo Pinzauti, authoritative musicologist and music critic, wrote of her thus: "the piano performance of the Goldberg Variations, completed with great public success by Monica Leone, was of great musical intelligence and perfect technical mastery…".
